$1.1 MILLION INVESTMENT TO TRANSFORM WESTON WORKERS CLUB

$1.1 MILLION INVESTMENT TO TRANSFORM WESTON WORKERS CLUB

Weston Workers Club is set to undergo a major transformation following the announcement of $800,000 in NSW Government funding through the Active Regional Communities grant program.

Together with an additional $300,000 contribution from Weston Workers Club, the $1.1 million project will deliver significant improvements to community facilities, accessibility and emergency preparedness.

The project, titled Meeting Spaces for Evacuation Centre and Community Inclusion including Transport, will deliver:

  • New community meeting space for local groups, organisations and community activities.
  • Family-friendly outdoor precinct featuring a children’s playground, bar, kitchen and seating.
  • New courtesy bus to improve transport and community accessibility.
  • Backup generator to strengthen the Club’s capacity as a registered emergency evacuation centre.
  • Auditorium audio-visual upgrades to improve entertainment, events and community functions.
  • Air conditioning upgrades to enhance comfort throughout the Club.

Weston Workers Club CEO and Secretary Manager Anthony Burke welcomed the NSW Government funding announced by Minister for Regional NSW Tara Moriarty, describing it as a significant milestone in the Club’s long-term vision.

“This is an incredibly exciting announcement for Weston Workers Club and, more importantly, for our local community.”

“We’ve always believed our Club is about much more than bricks and mortar — it’s about people. This investment will allow us to create better spaces for families, community organisations and members, while strengthening our ability to support the community when it matters most.”

Mr Burke said the Club’s role as a registered emergency evacuation centre was an important part of the project.

“The installation of a backup generator and improvements to our facilities will help ensure we’re better prepared to support our community during emergencies. It’s a responsibility we take seriously.”

He said the Club was proud to contribute $300,000 towards the project, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to community investment.

“We have a clear 10-year vision for Weston Workers Club, and this project is another major step towards delivering it.”

“We’re extremely grateful to Minister Tara Moriarty and the NSW Government for recognising the important role regional clubs play in bringing communities together.”

“We’re not just building a better club — we’re helping build a stronger community.”

Further details regarding project timelines will be announced as planning progresses.
